REALMS PROJECT

The Regenerative Agricultural practices for improved Livelihoods and Markets (REALMS) is a 4- years project funded by the IKEA Foundation. Implemented by SNV, it aims to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kenya and Rwanda.

Unique Strength Of Realms

Participatory Approaches

Where farmers and farming communities are actively engaged in decision making, field trails, training and evaluation.

Building up an evidence base for advocacy by working with CSOs

Relevant stakeholders employing evidence-based advocacy in addressing policy formulation and implementation (building further on the multi-country Voice for Change Partnership project).

Inclusion of women and youth

Full engagement of women and youth who are affected most by unfavourable markets, hostile policies, extreme poverty and limited opportunities to develop their livelihoods.

We Are Active! We Are Professional!

Welcome to REALMS Project

The Regenerative Agricultural practices for improved Livelihoods and Markets (REALMS) is a 4- years project funded by the IKEA Foundation. Implemented by SNV, it aims to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kenya and Rwanda through the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices such as reducing the use  of chemical fertilizers, Integrated Pest Management and setting soil and water conservation to stop erosion. It can be concluded that farmers in Kenya and Rwanda apply circular and regenerative farming practices such as the application of low quantities of home-made compost/animal manure, and biological pest control.

However, most of the farmers are not introduced to biological pest control, since this has not been promoted among farmers. To address the issue, REALMS Project will work with smallholders and their communities, support local service providers (SMEs) and engage with relevant stakeholders influential in creating the necessary enabling environment.
