REALMS – Regenerative Agricultural practices for improved Livelihoods and Markets – is a 4-year project funded by the IKEA Foundation, and implemented by SNV, which aims to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kenya and Rwanda.

The REALMS Project is working to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kenya and Rwanda through the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices. Farmers in Kenya and Rwanda are supported and encouraged to apply circular and regenerative farming practices, such as the application of home-made compost and animal manure, and biological pest control.

Many of these techniques are new to farmers who have historically been reliant on chemical fertilisers. To address this issue, REALMS Project is working with smallholders and their communities to provide practical, hands-on training, supporting local service providers (SMEs), and partnering with influential stakeholders to create the necessary enabling environment.
